Rolex GMT Master II was initially a product of the marking the first time a steel and gold Rolex GMT had been outfitted with a ceramic bezel instead of aluminum. It is also the last time a two-tone GMT has ever had an all-black ceramic bezel; the current production lineup only features two-tone bezels. Ref. 116713 was also among the first models in the 6-digit series ushering in a new-style "Super" case with broader lugs and larger crown guards and a modern Maxi dial with larger hour markers and hands.
