Rolex Daytona 16523 Champagne Dial
Before the invention of the in-house calibre 4130 Perpetual movement the Rolex Chronograph was powered by the cal. 4030. This movement is often referred to by collectors as the Zenith El Primero and is widely sought-after among collectors in-the-know. The movement was famously produced in Zenith's factory and then modified by Rolex to beat at a rate of 28 800 bph and to remove the date aperture. The ref. 16523 is the steel and gold edition of the Zenith model that features a traditional Tachymeter bezel calibrated to 400 units chronograph registers on the dial and a classic 3-link Oyster bracelet. When it comes to motorsport and Rolex history it doesn't anymore iconic than this watch.
