Patek Philippe Nautilus Chronograph Stainless Steel
Patek Philippe released the first Nautilus chronograph in 2006 via ref. 5980. The innovative watch also featured the gradient horizontal stripe dial which was quite the innovation for Patek Philippe at the time. The blue shades on the example you see here play nicely against the brushed and satin-finished stainless steel. The dial is decorated with handsome white gold-trimmed hour markers and hands and a striking mono-counter combining chronograph minutes and hours on the same sub-dial. The Patek 5980/1A-001 sits quite nicely on most wrist sizes at 40.5mm in diameter and just under 13mm thick. The case also features the Nautilus' iconic octagonal bezel 120-meter water resistance and sleek chronograph side pushers that sit flush inside the curved wings on either side of the crown. Patek's caliber CH 28-520 C self-winding movement is hard at work inside the case boasting a fly-black function automatic winding and chronograph mechanism. Patek Philippe Grand Complications Rose Gold Dial
Patek Philippe Grand Complications ref 5320G-011 (2024) debuted in 2017 but draws much inspiration from mid-century Pateks featuring a similar case design and vintage-inspired syringe-style hands. Even the moon phase is reminiscent of models produced during that era. Ref. 5320G-011 is a rose-gilt opaline dial variant of the white gold Patek released in 2022 and featuring a similar dial layout as the original cream-dial 2017 model. White gold applied luminescent Arabic hour markers are topped with tiny dots. The dial also features two small windows on either side of the Moon Phase to indicate day and night hours. The calendar displays are arranged similarly to 1940s Patek Philippe watches featuring two windows below 12 o'clock for the day of the week and the month and a date circling the Moon Phase indicator.
Patek Philippe Aquanaut Travel Time Stainless Steel
Patek Philippe Aquanaut ref 5164A (2013). The collection was released in the late 1990s featuring a design heavily inspired by its cousin the Nautilus but with a slightly more "young" and approachable design set. It features a similar case shape as the Nautilus including an octagonal bezel but with a "Tropical" rubber strap and a square motif on the dial. Ref. 5164A is a travel time model with two pushers on the left side of the case - the top pusher advances the hour hand while the bottom pusher moves it back allowing the wearer to sync with local time effortlessly. When the hour hand moves it reveals a skeletonized hour hand underneath to hold the place of home time. It's a simple and fascinating complication that makes the already desirable Aquanaut even more collection-worthy.
